Smoking: The Negative Effects

Smoking: The Negative Effects
By: Mel Patrick M. Merquita

In the 21st Century, smoking has been a trend to both teenagers and adults. About half of the earth’s populations are smokers. In the Philippines, smokers can be found in every corner. Nobody cares about the negative effects of smoking. Smoking has a negative effect on the smoker because it can change his or her personality, endanger his or her health and change society’s view of him or her.

Smoking is addictive because it gives the smoker a sensation that increases his or her heart rate. With every “puff” of the smoker, he or she changes his or her personality. The smoker becomes reliant to the cigarette stick. The smoker will slowly become a slave to the cigarette stick and as time passes it can damage his or her well being. The smoker’s wellness will decrease and his or her health will be in danger. The smoker will be a nest of deadly diseases like lung cancer, deteriorating eyesight and ear infection. With diseases like these at hand, society’s view of him or her will change. Society will look at him or her as a drug addict, a bad role model and a sadistic slave to cigarette. Smoking has proved to be indeed bad yet the smokers don’t care.

The effects of smoking will destroy the smoker. As the future of the world, every man or woman being must teach their children that smoking is intolerable. The children are the future of the world and they must be aware of the negative effects of smoking. Sadly, as time passes, smokers become younger and younger. But it is not the end, there is still time. Everyone must be an example to stop smoking. With full cooperation from everyone, smoking can end and this world will become a better place.
